Samsung SmartThings Tracker FAQs

Samsung SmartThings Tracker FAQs

The Samsung SmartThings Tracker is a small, data-only device that runs on Canada’s best national network where there is LTE-M coverage. It allows its users to find what matters most and is exclusive to Bell.

Key features:

  • Get real time and on-demand location tracking
  • Create custom zones that will alert you when your tracker enters or leaves that area
  • Share the location of your tracker in real time with the click of a button
  • Durable and water-resistant making it ideal for indoor or outdoor situations

No, you do not. As long as your mobile device supports Android 5 (Lollipop) and above or iOS 10 and above, you can use the Samsung SmartThings Tracker. All that is required is to download the SmartThings app from Galaxy Apps, Play Store or App Store, and connect the tracker to your mobile device.

Bluetooth is only needed for the initial setup. Once the tracker is set up, it is powered by the LTE-M network, meaning Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are not required. Although the LTE-M network is part of the LTE network, there may be some areas where service is limited (for example, underground parking garages or inside of buildings with no LTE signal). This service is also currently not available in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. See our coverage map.

Yes, Connected Tracker plan is required. If you deactivate your plan, you have 90 days to reactivate it. Please note: if you do not reactivate within 90 days, your tracker will become inactive indefinitely.

No, you do not have to be an existing Bell Mobility customer to activate the SmartThings Tracker.

See the Quick Start Guide for setup instructions.

Up to 200 Samsung SmartThings Trackers can be connected to one account.

During the initial setup, the tracker must be paired with one mobile device. Then, using the SmartThings app, you can link up to 19 additional mobile devices for monitoring the same tracker.

  2. Select Members.
  3. Select Add member.
  4. There are two options available:
    1. Invite a nearby person using the QR code.
    2. Invite someone using a Samsung account.

Yes, you can send a location report to the SmartThings app from your tracker by pressing the power button twice. This will send an alert to all members connected to that tracker.
